![]() If there is a damaged cable then you can either buy tools and parts to repair it (not difficult if you're able to learn from instruction videos or guides), or replace it. Once you know which cable is only linking at 100Mb, you can decide next how to correct it. 50 to 100 Mbps allow a few more people to stream in HD or even 4K, stream music, game, browse social media, and work from home. (Mbps means Megabits per second, by the way.) Speeds of 25 Mbps allow up to 2 devices to stream, surf the web and check emails. ![]() You ll have to look up the manual for each item you have to see if and how they indicate port link speed. A good internet speed is anywhere between 25 and 100 Mbps. Commonly orange is used for 100Mb and green for gigabit, but I have also run into equipment that does this backwards. On any router/modem/switch, one of the lights for every port should change colors to indicate the link speed. If you have any switches, then it could also be a cable between the switch and computer, or switch and router. It could be between your computer and router, or your router and modem (if those are separate pieces of equipment). One of the connections between you and the internet is making a physical connection ("link") at 100Mbps instead of 1Gbps. But until now my internet could've gone up to correct. ![]()
